Mac OS X 10.8 & Gatekeeper
Installing Hauptwerk on Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion
Compatibility:
Hauptwerk 4.0.0 is fully compatible with OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion. In our testing we found no problems compared to previous versions of OS X. The only difference is installing Hauptwerk with Apple's new Gatekeeper security settings which will only be applicable to those downloading Hauptwerk from the Internet. If you are installing Hauptwerk from a DVD the following steps do not apply and may be ignored.
Gatekeeper:
OS X 10.8 features Gatekeeper which helps to prevent malicious software from being downloaded and installed on your computer. Applications are required to be digitally signed with an Apple Developer ID which requires the developer to recompile the software using the latest software from Apple. While we will be following the procedures to digitally sign Hauptwerk with our Developer ID, this will be forthcoming in a future release of Hauptwerk. To install the current version of Hauptwerk on OS X 10.8 there is an easy work around to bypass the Gatekeeper settings.
By default when attempting to install Hauptwerk from a download Gatekeeper will issue the following prompt:

To avoid the above, instead do the following.
- Hold Control and click the InstallHauptwerk installer package and choose Open (or right click on the file and choose Open):

- A new screen will appear verifying you would like to open this file. Click Open to begin the installation of Hauptwerk:

- By default OS X 10.8 does not come pre-installed with Java which is required to run the Hauptwerk installer. If you see the following message click Install and OS X will download the latest version of Java. You can then continue to install Hauptwerk as normal:
